Consumer Reports and the Toyobaru

When it comes to the Toyobaru, I am Consumer Reports, the hated (By the intelligent) publication that's more biased than a 911's weight distribution. In several, if not many, instances they rate two essentially identical cars, with one ending up heads and tails above the other, whether it be in reliability, handling, or the something similar.
In this respect, the Toyobaru is that car for me. The Subaru BRZ is great. The Scion FR-S is shit.
Instead of sentencing you to a wall-o-text that would shame the Great Wall of China, I wrote a list of the Pros and Cons of both cars.

Subaru BRZ:
+ Handles great.
+ Efficient drivetrain.
+ Looks good.
+ Doesn't have a nonsense name (B - Boxer engine, R - RWD, Z - Zenith, meaning the peak of their passion and ability, which could very well be true considering it's likely the first Subaru to sell so well, so quickly).
+ Affordable compared to other fantastic handlers, bar the MX-5 and Genesis Coupe.
+ Demonstrates Subaru's ability to make a fantastic car.
- Breaks Subaru's AWD streak.

Scion FR-S:
+ They rebadged a good car.
- The badge (It doesn't normally matter, but it does here. It'd be like Hyundai taking the Equus, selling it in every market, and renaming it as a Kia here).
- Demonstrates Scion's ability to try to take all of Subaru's credit, when they didn't do shit.
- The head unit. Really.
- Has a stupid name. My father saw the first commercial for it, and he knows what it's called, but he still calls it the Furse (Rhymes with purse). It probably stands for First-RWD-Scion or something like that. Who cares? "Furse" is enough to kill its name for me.
- Breaks Scion's econobox streak by hijacking another company's car.

As I said earlier at another location, if Toyota had badged it as the GT-86 here in America (Fuck yeah), and had actually made it a hatchback, like the car they were trying to emulate (Which brings me to another point, soon), I would buy a white one, swap out the disgusting-looking exhaust, buy a carbon fiber hood as soon as they make one, if they haven't already, and go take some drifting courses, after making sweet love to that new exhaust system. Initial D is the anime. Naruto is an anime. Bleach is an anime. Initial D is the anime.
My "[an]other point": Subaru designed the car. Toyota penned the car. Simple. Toyota wanted to emulate the AE86, clearly. Yet, no 3-door sports coupe. Seriously, Toyota, you had one job. One job. And you failed. Hell, I would've been stoked as hell if Toyota grew a pair and gave it retractable headlights. Yes, it would be less aerodynamic. Yes, it would heavier. Yes, it would be more expensive.
It would also look totally bitchin', and would make me doubt that Toyota is run by the numbers people 100% of the time. Passion is at a minimum.
That maybe would've even made up for the lack of hatchbackedness.
As it stands, Toyota can suck my coconuts, and I'll have to make do with a non-hatchback BRZ. Or just buy a Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T, R-Spec. Yeah, that's what I'll do. It fits humans, not midgets, and comes with a turbocharger.

I do not believe anyone could hate a car for superficial reasons such as these. It is a great alternative for those who don't have a lot of money yet still want the RWD sportscar feel. Do you issue this same bile toward the Miata? It is basically the same type of car. What about the old British roadsters like what MGDriver has? It definitely costs as much to keep running as a BRZ costs new.

Comparing the car to a Genesis Coupe is unfair as well. The GC starts out more expensive and has a turbo on it. They are going for a straight line speed type of car. Read every article, the GC handles poorly. These two cars do not compare as a result since their target markets are different.

My daughter has given up the search for a used car compromise. She has told me and my dad that she is willing to save for a few more years in order to get her BRZ. I am so proud of my little girl. She shows responsibility and sacrifice, she will be rewarded for it. Her grandfather and I may just go in with her and help her get the car of her dreams. She will pay the monthly payments and insurance and gas with her own money, we will cover the down payment.
