We Have Children Running for President

I am a registered Democrat and unapoligetic liberal.  I come from a liberal family and live in Oregon, but I want to make a couple of things clear.  Oregon liberals are very different from California or New England liberals.  But anyways, up until just recently I was planning on voting for Obama because I think that Romney is a used car salesman and he picked a first class arrogant asshole for his running mate.  However, I think that I will abstain this year.  Why?  Because I've seen student body elections in elementary school run with more maturity and class than the candidates are showing this year.  Frankly it's sickening and I hope that other countries don't watch our 24 hour news networks because otherwise they'll lose whatever little respect they have left for us.

I blame the Internet.  While that seems kind of lazy, between Assbook and Shitter candidates have quick, 24 hour methods of making themselves look like assholes.  Not to mention people have very quick ways to sling mud at one another.  Between all the blogs and twits, I mean shits, I mean eggs, I mean tweets the candidates can make fun of each other very quickly.  Biden can forget what state he's in and just a few minutes later Romney can make fun of him for it even though he's thousands of miles away.  But is it really necessary to make fun of little stupid things like Romney introducing Ryan as the next president or Biden saying he's in North Carolina?  Bush the second couldn't pronounce "nuclear" and he was president for eight years and we didn't implode entirely and to be honest our implosion wasn't even his fault unless he owned an idiot bank.  In fact, all Biden has to do is derp around during some meetings of the senate.  It's a good job for him.

But add to that Obama pretending that he's some sort of liberal all of a sudden even though the only liberal thing he did in office was put a very conservative version of healthcare reform into law.  Obama's a closet conservative or he would have actually gotten taxes raised on ultra-rich assholes by now.  Then there's the whining about Romney's tax returns.  "WAHHH Romney hasn't released tax returns!"  How many of your tax returns have you released you baby?  Post them on your Assbook right now!  You don't want to?  Why should Romney have to?  You know he's an ultra-rich asshole and you know that 99% of ultra-rich assholes pay basically nothing in taxes so just assume.  It's way easier to call someone an asshole over and over instead of demanding that they do something stupid.  Call them an asshole enough times and eventually they'll do what you want them to anyways.  And then there's Bain.  Some liberals are really obsessed with when Romney was at Bain and what he did there.  You know what Bainers (yes, that is my term, u jelly), I made up a name for you because you're as bad as the damn birthers.  Even Obama's campaign is running attack ads about Bain.  Look, those of us that actually look know that Bain was just another one of those capital investment firms and we all know that capital investment firms are scumbag establishments.  The fact that Romney even ran the company is enough to say he's a scumbag but we knew that from the second that he smiled into a camera.  As liberals we're supposed to be able to run on the issues and not have to resort to personal attacks and childish mudslinging.  We're supposed to let the Republicans do that because they have no issues to run on but if you want to stoop to their level, that's fine.

Then there's the Romney campaign.  I was never going to vote for Romney anyways, but Romney makes McCain look like a genius, I'll tell you what.  I thought Palin was a bad choice for VP until Romney picked Paul Ryan.  Two months ago, I said that if Romney picked Ryan he might as well drop out of the race and yet he picked him anyways.  With the huge number of popular Republican governors that are out there, Romney decided to pick a very arrogant, very visible member of the congress with the lowest approval rating ever.  The only person he could have picked that would have been worse would have been the Boner.  But hey, Ryan is a great bully and name caller so he fits in at the Romney campaign perfectly.  This is a campaign that has, on multiple occations, had their campaign bus drive repeatedly around an Obama rally honking the horn and heckling Obama supporters.  But what can you expect from a campaign run by children.  Then fast forward to Romney's overseas trip where he managed to insult everybody which I suppose is a far cry from Obama's apologies to everybody, maybe he was trying to be different.  But mainly it stems from the fact that Republicans just feel the need to be assholes in today's political landscape.  Romney goes on about Obama's campaign being "angry" when he ignores how the entire Republican engine runs on pure concentrated hate.  How can you accuse the other guy of running a campaign of hate when you've been insulting every single thing the man says and does since before you were even the official candidate?  Republican debates were "who can bash Obama harder" parties.  Frankly, its just stupid.

The whole damn thing is stupid.  The fact that the devolution into attack ads has happened so fast and so agressively just shows how broken the whole system is.  Most polls are showing less than 5 percent of people are undecided at this point is really showing how stupid the whole endeavour is.  Ridiculous amounts of money are being spent on advertising for people to basically insult each other.  But I guess that's one way for a politician to create jobs!

Damn I hate election years.
